Mechanical Design & Hardware
The sleeve was redesigned to add wiring paths and button pouch.
For the prototype, a new button board was created, with an additional button now on the device. The purpose of the second button will be to simply turn the device on or off, without running any of the intended inhaler code. The button can be thought of as a debugging/engineering button. All the wires are now integrated into the sleeve.
The completed prototype is shown below:
Marketing
The poster has been updated with the new model design.
The marketing video has also been finished as part of the course requirements. This short video is meant for non-technical audiences and provides a brief overview of the purpose and key features of the Zefyr inhaler attachment.
Mobile App Development
Users can now edit the name and remaining doses of their smart inhaler attachment. On the Device Summary screen, there is a pencil/edit icon. When the user taps on the icon, they are taken to a screen where they can edit the information. When they tap on the Save button, the user’s changes will be reflected on the Device Summary screen and the Device List screen. The database is also updated to reflect the changes. Error handling was also added so that users cannot save a blank name or blank number of doses. If the user does not want to save their changes on the Edit Device screen, they can simply press the back button and the changes will not be applied.
The transmission of data from the sleeve attachment to the mobile app is still in progress and is the remaining functionality that needs to be added to the app. The ability to receive data from the device on the app has been achieved, the remaining task is to have that data be inputted as an inhaler log into the app database. Once the Bluetooth data transmission is complete, testing can be done again to ensure that the app meets the requirements. In addition, the test cases need to be updated to reflect new behaviour and app functionality such as deleting a device and editing a device’s information. Comments are closed.
